N.O.V.A. is built around skills — focused capabilities you turn on for exactly what your business needs. Pick what you want at setup, and add more any time. See what comes with every install.
These features are built into the app. No skill purchase needed. Skills (below) add more on top. We’ve listed what each one can’t do as plainly as what it can, because you should know before you rely on it. Some of this is new and has been tested with simulated input but not yet with every real-world setup, so expect a few rough edges at first.
Say “Hey N.O.V.A.” or hold the mic button, and N.O.V.A. answers out loud.
Good to know: Wake-word listening runs on your computer. Only after the wake word or a button press, a short recording of what you say is sent to a speech-to-text service (OpenAI, through our server) and the text goes to Claude; replies are spoken by a text-to-speech voice. It can mishear in a noisy room, and wake-word sensitivity is adjustable in Settings.
Wave to start listening, open palm to stop, fist to mute, thumbs up to dismiss an alert, peace sign for your briefing. Open-hand swipes can scroll or close N.O.V.A.’s own windows. You can remap every one.
Good to know: Off until you switch it on, and your computer asks for camera permission. Hand tracking runs on your computer; video is never saved, shown or sent. Gestures only trigger harmless actions — never a send, post, payment, lock or machine start. Tracking is approximate, works best in good light, and can miss or misfire.
Ask N.O.V.A. to build a part and spin it, zoom it and export STL, SVG or DXF. With the camera on, pinch your fingers and move your hand to turn the model; pull toward you to zoom.
Good to know: Hand control needs camera gestures turned on (the viewer offers a one-click button). It’s for looking, not precision work. Models made with this basic viewer don’t subtract holes in the STL — the Parametric CAD skill does.
Ask “what’s on my screen?” or “read my second monitor,” or press the monitor button next to the message box.
Uses more AI — typically a fraction of a cent to a cent per screen on your own Anthropic accountGood to know: Only when you ask, never in the background. You accept a privacy notice once per session. One shrunken picture per screen goes with your question to Claude using your own Anthropic key; nothing is stored by N.O.V.A. or Code Crafted Nexus. It sees everything visible, can only look (no clicking or typing), and can misread small text.
Check and control lights, thermostats, locks and more through your own Home Assistant, and get spoken alerts for things like smoke or water.
Good to know: You set up Home Assistant yourself and paste in its address and token. Unlocking, disarming, opening a garage or gate and running scripts always pop up an on-screen confirmation only you can accept. N.O.V.A. is not a certified safety or alarm system.
A morning briefing when you first open N.O.V.A., on demand any time, plus reminders you can set, snooze and complete by voice.
Good to know: The briefing only pulls from the skills you’ve turned on and connected (email, ads, sales and so on); anything not connected is simply left out and N.O.V.A. says so. Reminders alert you while the app is open.
Look up quotes, keep a watchlist with spoken price alerts, and ask for recent company news.
Good to know: Prices are delayed, not live, and for information only. N.O.V.A. never tells you to buy, sell or hold and is not a financial advisor. Alerts fire only while the app is open.
Real beam bending, thermal expansion, weight and laser-time calculations instead of guesses.
Good to know: Planning estimates with the assumptions stated — not a substitute for a qualified engineer where safety is involved.
Open any answer as an editable document and save it as PDF, Word or text. Get charts of your numbers. Attach a text file (CSV, notes, logs) to a message and ask about it.
Good to know: 3D models, CAD and stress pictures show on screen but can’t be placed inside a PDF or Word file. Attached files are read once for that question.
Choose how chatty N.O.V.A. is: off, light or full banter.
Good to know: Changes tone only, never accuracy or what it’s allowed to do.
Anything risky shows an on-screen confirmation that only you can accept, and N.O.V.A. says a thing happened only when the tool confirms it.
Good to know: Emails are drafted for you to review, never sent for you. Confirmations are on the screen, not spoken, so look for them.
N.O.V.A. uses your own Anthropic API key, so you see and control what the AI costs.
Good to know: Ordinary chat is cheap, but heavier features (reading screenshots or files, CAD, stress analysis, long documents) use noticeably more AI — each one is marked with a gold “uses more AI” tag.
