How do I make my first prompt?
Type what you want in the Your sentence box, tick the AI models you use under Models, and the prompts appear on the right. Press Copy prompt (or Copy and open Claude) and paste it into your AI.
What do Standard, Strict and Maximum mean?
They set how strongly the prompt pushes the AI to avoid making things up. Standard adds the core rules, Strict adds source and uncertainty rules, and Maximum adds confidence labels, a self-check pass and the strongest wording. Use Maximum for anything important.
Does it guarantee the AI will not make mistakes?
No. A good prompt lowers the chance of made-up answers, but it cannot remove it. Always check anything important.
What is Improve my prompt?
Switch to Improve my prompt, paste a prompt you already use, and PromptSmith rebuilds it with the missing guardrails. Add what should change in the optional box.
How do I fill in the {{blanks}} in a template?
Templates can contain blanks written like {{topic}}. A Fill in your blanks box appears with one field for each. Type your words there and the prompt updates.
Where are my saved prompts?
In the Library tab. Every prompt you generate is saved automatically (the latest 30), and you can star or save favorites permanently. Use Export library to back it up and Import library to restore it.
How does my license key work?
After purchase, your license key is emailed to you. Enter it on the activation screen to keep using PromptSmith after your free trial. One key can be active on up to three of your devices in total (Windows, Mac or Android), and it never expires. PromptSmith is free to try for 7 days with every feature on Windows and Mac; after day 7 it needs a license key. The Android version needs a license key from the start.
How do I move my license to a new computer?
On the old computer choose Help → Deactivate This Computer, then enter the key on the new one. If the old computer is not available, email us with your key and we will free a slot.
Why does the free trial need the internet?
The trial is tied to your computer so it can only be used once. Starting it checks with our server one time. After that it works offline.
I didn't receive my license key email.
Check your spam folder, then email us from the address you used at checkout and we'll resend it.
How do I update the app?
Press Check for updates in the top right, or choose Help → Check for Updates. If a newer version is available, press Download.
Windows shows a security warning when I install.
PromptSmith for Windows may show a SmartScreen warning, because it is a new app. See our Windows security notice for the steps to continue. On a Mac, PromptSmith is signed and notarized by Apple.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — see our Refund Policy. When a refund of any kind is issued, the license for that purchase is revoked.
The app shows a blank window or something else is wrong.
